In the wake of the continuing earthquake tragedy in Japan, the Nagano Olympic Commemorative Marathon, an IAAF Bronze Label Road Race scheduled for Sunday 17 April, has been cancelled.

After the cancellation of the Nagoya Women's Marathon the weekend after the 10 March earthquake, Nagano was to host the final qualifying race for Japan's World Championships marathon team. The replacement for that qualifying race has yet to be announced, but will likely be one among the following April Marathons: Rotterdam, Paris, London, or Boston.

Nagano Organisers have announced that all entry fees collected for the race will be donated to earthquake and tsunami victims.
