       (ARCADIA, Calif.) — Nearly 4,000 athletes from 37 states as well as three Canadian provinces converged at Arcadia High School for the 56th annual Arcadia Invitational, presented be Nike.
       When the lights came on, the stars came out!
       None shined brighter than Ventura's Sadie Engelhardt, Bergen Catholic's Benjamin Shue, and American Fork's Daniel Simmons.
       For a second consecutive year, Engelhardt broke the National High School Federation record for 1600 meters while also notching her third straight Arcadia mile win as the Southern California junior clipped the timing beam in 4:32.48 for 1600 meters en route to her 4:34.31 full mile triumph! Her performance registered as the 36th national record in meet history!
       Shue earned his second consecutive Male Field Athlete of the Meet honors with a stellar sweep of the throwing events, including a nation-leading 200-03 toss for the New Jersey junior in the discus throw and a meet-topping win in the shot put great measure.
       Simmons won the deepest distance race in national prep history as the Utah prep phenom broke the finish tape in 8:34.96 for meters in a race that saw a stunning record 37 runners break the 9-minute barrier; a record 27 of those dipped under the 8:50 threshold; another record 7 of those roared across in the 8:30s! Several state records fell in that race!
       Here were some of the biggest highlights in the two-day competition! …

• Sadie Engelhardt (Ventura) roars 4:32.48 to break National HS Federation national record for 1600 meters en route to 4:34.31 full mile!
• Marcelo Mantecon (Belen Jesuit, FL) rips 8:50.02 to break national frosh 3200-meter  record!
• Fourteen new U.S. Outdoor #1's for 2024:

   

  • Patrick Hilby (Aurora Central HS, CO) — 1:49.47 for Boys 800
  • Daniel Simmons (American Fork HS, UT) — 8:34.96 for Boys 3200
