Junior Lauren Ping of Desert Vista High in Arizona finished fifth in the girls 5-kilometer championship race at the Eastbay Cross Country West Regional at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Lauren, who clocked 17:42, joined older sister Grace Ping, a freshman at Oklahoma State, in qualifying for both Eastbay National Championships and Nike Cross Nationals in her career. She will compete Dec. 11 at the national meet at Balboa Park's Morley Field in San Diego, Calif.
