Haussler, Lucas, Ackley dominant in North Dakota By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Cara Haussler of Bismarck won four events at the North Dakota state championships at Bismarck Bowl. Haussler swept the 100 (12.25), 200 (25.08) and 400 (58.22) and also anchored her team’s winning 4x400 relay. Hunter Lucas from Davies also took a haul with his victories in the Class A 800 (1:55.45), 1,600 (4:13.81) and 3,200 (9:21.09). Karly Ackley from Grand Forks Central matched Lucas with wins in the 800 (2:15.43), 1,600 (4:57.63) and 3,200 (10:46.22). The Davies girls rolled up 158.75 points and broke the all-time state record in the 4x100 relay with 48.41 and also the 4x200 with 1:41.91. Bismarck also went under the old record (48.76) with 48.43. Akealy Moton, who will attend the University of North Dakota on a basketball scholarship, won the shot put (48-6) and javelin (145-5). She was also third in the discus, which was taken by freshman Shelby Frank of Red River, who threw 155-9. Junior Blythe Ehrmantraut of Bismarck won the high jump (5-4) and triple jump (38-8) and was second in the long jump and third in the pole vault. Gracie Wright of Hillsboro/Central Valley won the Class B 400 meters in 57.03. She also won the 800. The New Town boys dominated the distance races, putting six in the top eight of the Class B 1,600 and six in the top seven of the 3,200. Incredibly, the team won the state title by scoring 85 points in four events (the 800, 1,600, 3,200 and 4x800 relay). Ryan Wheeling and Jalen Chase led the way.
