Rose Gaye Helps Davies Pile Up 222 Points in N.D. By Mary Albl of DyeStat It was a fitting final state meet for Fargo Davies’ Rose Gaye. The standout senior sprinter swept the 100 (12.05), 200 (25.45) and 400 (56.67) and ran on the winning 4x400 relay (4:00.24). The Fargo Davies girls won nine of the events to amass a whopping 222 points and claim the Division A crown at the North Dakota State Track and Field Championships at Bismarck High. Century went 1-2 in the Division A girls 800, as freshman Emily Goldade won in 2:15.69 and teammate Erin Palmer, an eighth grader, was second (2:17.57). Freshman Calob Larson of Bismarck Legacy was impressive on the track, winning the Division A 100 (11.16), 200 (22.04) and 400 (48.22). The Bismarck Century boys set an all-time state record in the 4x200 relay, running 1:27.74. Century junior Mitch Honeyman ran 1:53.68 to win the Division A 800 and was part of the winning 4x400 (3:24.63) and 4x800 (8:02.85). The Fargo South boys set a Division A state record in the 4x100 (42.25). In Division B, it was Hazen senior Grace Zimmerman putting on a show. She won the 100 (12.44), 200 (25.20) and set a meet record in the 400, running 56.50. Her 40 points helped Hazen to the Division B team title. The Park River/Fordville-Lankin 4x100 girls team set a Division B record (49.66). The Hillsboro/Central Valley 4x400 girls team clocked a Division B record time of 4:00.24 – the same time as the Class A champions. Junior Isaac Huber of Edgeley/Kulm dominated the Division B distance events, winning the 800 (1:56.77), 1,600 (4:22.56) and 3,200 (9:40.94). Junior Kaden Kuntz of Dickinson Trinity swept the Division B boys 100 (10.99) and 200 (22.36). Des Lacs-Burlington senior Joshua Knutson won the Division B 110 hurdles (14.74) and 300 hurdles (38.51). Hillsboro/Central Valley set a state Division B record in the 4x200 (1:29.39).
