Bentonville boys, Fayetteville girls rule 7A in Arkansas

Kevin Dougherty won the 400 meters in 48.52 seconds and helped power his 4x400 relay team to victory (3:21.83) to help Bentonville win the Class 7A boys track and field championship in Fayetteville. 

Zach McWhorter of Har-Ber broke the 7A meet record in the boys pole vault with his winning clearance of 16-10. 

The finals were conducted in windy conditions that hurt times in the sprints and hurdles. 

Hannah Lueders of Rogers had a big day, winning titles in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 300 hurdles. 

However, it was Fayetteville over Conway 131-125 for the 7A girls team title. 

- Michael Harris of Lake Hamilton cleared 16-0 to win the 6A boys pole vault. Edie Murray of Lake Hamilton won the girls event with 12-8.

- Seth Waters of Harrison ran 1:55.31 to claim the 800 meters and 4:17.47 to win the 1,600 meters in the Class 5A meet. He was also on the winning 4x800 relay and took second in the 3,200.

- Johnaya Givens from Parkview won the 5A long jump (18-7.50) and triple jump (37-5.50) titles. She was also on the winning 4x100 relay team and placed in both hurdles events.

- Hamburg's Tiana Wilson swept the 100 (11.88), 200 (25.02) and 400 (58.84) in the Class 4A meet. 

- Natalie Toney led the Pocahontas girls to the 4A team title with victories in the long jump, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. She was third in the triple jump. 

- Marquel McKinney of Gosnell won the 4A high jump and triple jump and was second in the long jump. 

- Tyler Moreland of Genoa Central broke the Class 3A meet record in the 300 hurdles (39.79) and also won the 100 hurdles and the discus, and placed in the 200 and 4x400. 

- Sydney Lane of Rivercrest broke the 3A record in the high jump with 5-7 and also placed second in both hurdles events.
