Fischer Puts Finishing Touches On Arkansas HS Career

Camren Fischer of Fayetteville completed one of the best distance careers of any Arkansas prep on May 11 when he ran 4:11.61 to win the 1,600 meters at the Meet of Champions at Lake Hamilton.

A week earlier, Fischer, a Princeton signee, rolled to Class 6A victories in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.

(On May 31, Fischer broke the all-time Arkansas record in the full mile with 4:09.56 at the Festival of Miles in St. Louis).

Little Rock North’s Kennedy Lighter, an Arkansas signee, ran 10.50 to win the 100 meters and 21.38 to take the 200 meters. He also led his team to a 4x100 relay victory in 41.97 seconds.

Hector Hernandez from De Queen ran a state-leading time of 1:55.12 to win the 800 meters.

Bryant Parlin of Bentonville won the shot put with a mark of 62-1. A week earlier, he won the 6A title with 64-9. Parlin also won the discus with 166-8.

Russellville junior Taelon Peter cleared 6-10 to win the boys high jump.

One of the nation’s top prep pole vaulters, Haze Farmer of Lake Hamilton, cleared 17-1.25.

The freshman son of Arkansas assistant track coach Mario Sategna, Isaiah, won the long jump with a mark of 22-9.25. He also placed second in the 200 meters and third in the high jump.

On the girls side, Kamaria Russell from Little Rock Central won the 100 meters in 12.12 seconds and the 200 in 24.58.

Breya Clark of El Dorado won the high jump and triple jump and placed second in the long jump.

Mia Heard of Sylvan Hills won the long jump with 19-0 and was second in the triple jump. She was also part of the winning 4x100 relay team.

Cassidy Mooneyhan of Pea Ridge made 12-6 to win the pole vault.

Aliya Hatton from Sylvan Hills swept the hurdles events.
