Martin, Sleiman win WECSSAA cross-country titles

There are no freebies in this cross-country season for Belle River senior Jazmin Martin.

A year ago, Martin was an easy winner in WECSSAA’s five-kilometre senior girls’ race, running alone and finishing 47 seconds ahead of the field.

Thursday, she found herself in a dead heat with Massey’s Olivia Little as they approached the final few hundred metres through the finishing shoot and only a determined push saw Martin cross just ahead of Little.
